Our schools have a single, sacred duty, to think and work in the absolute best interests of the students. In the cult environment of primary school MATs we often forget that the children sitting in those chairs are not just data points or test scores. No sir or Miss, they are fresh-faced, impressionable oracles of optimism. These little humans are exactly what matters most, for the simple reason that they will be the ones to shape and mould our future.

So, how are we preparing them?

For too long, the answer has been more devices and more desk time. But 2026 needs to be the year we limit the screens and change the scenes. It is time to introduce a new kind of LOL: Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning (CBOL).

Why swap the glow of a tablet for the glow of the sun or fresh air?

Maths measures trees, not pixels. Science touches the soil, not a simulation. Wellbeing from Fresh air fuels the brain and lowers anxiety. Connection from building relationships with the environment and each other, face-to-face.
Let’s give the next generation the space to breathe, move, and learn in the world they are going to inherit.

Less Screen Time. More Green Time.
